SUN Cellular Broadband

I've been hearing a lot of good things with regards to the SUN Cellular broadband service. Thus far, when you mention SMART or Globe's wireless broadband service, you get mixed reactions (often in the negative) with performances that vary based on your location. Somehow, SUN's wireless service seems to be delivering.

I just hope it's a real product. You know what I mean. When we talk of brand authenticity, we're looking at a SUN broadband service that's good not just because it's new. I want to fast forward to several months from now and see whether I can gain the same feedback on how allegedly fast the service is.

i'm using sun's broadband service, okay naman. it's fast pero sometimes, dial-up is better. rarely naman na mabagal.

what i hate about sun is their postpaid service. it really sucks:

my husband and i got two postpaid lines from sun, the 1st one is his and the second was mine (it was bundled with the broadband service).

we were happy with the service because we don't get cut when we talk to each other or to other sun subscribers.

when the bill arrived, he paid agad but i was wondering why sun kept on texting me reminders that we pay our bill! syempre, i wondered why they were texting me everyday to remind me of this. i asked my husband if he paid na, and he answered me that we even have a credit of P600. we disregarded this because the message also included that we disregard it if payment has been made.

then one day, my services were cut but my husband's was not. meron pang sun agent na tumatawag sa akin para maningil, so i let the agent talk to my husband and eto yung reason:

agent (a): sir yung bill kasi ni ma'am di nababayaran

husband (h): pano nagyari yun eh may credit pa nga kami na P600?

a: sir wala po nakalagay dito

h: ano, e naka-bundle pa yan sa broadband and may isa pang account under my name. yung broadband nga di putol e.

a: ano po yung isang number?

h: 0922XXXXXXX

___________

anyway, my husband paid the bill and the sun personnel told us: "sir iba po yung address nung isang number dito sa amin, yung isa "block 65, yung isa block 6."

h: ay ganun ba, pakipalitan na lang.

sun personnel: sir itawag nyo na lang sa customer service
WOW. YUN LANG.

I assigned an SBW (Sun Broadband Wireless) unit to our Ops Manager so he can do some work from home. When he got it last September 2008, he got ok speeds (although not the 1.+mbps speeds promised early on). As of last month, he was checking if his neighbor's wifi was up before connecting via SBW. Ganun kabagal sa area niya sa Mandaluyong.

Also, Sun's policies do not reward early adopters. As mentioned earlier, we got the SBW unit last September 2008. Early this year Sun started advertising bundle plans, but they wouldn't let me merge my Group Plan 999 with the SBW (complete with sorry letter from CustServ).

Therefore, on September 10, 2009, I will be saying goodbye to Sun Broadband Wireless. They should not expect me to resume my subscription even after 4 months (the equivalent of my loss due to their refusal to "downgrade" my plan from 999 to 649 since Feb).

I can also go on a tirade against another Gokongwei firm, Ministop, but that's for another forum. Suffice to say that Gokongwei companies have only one policy -- the customer is always wrong.
